Children's Diseases

Pediatric diseases include common childhood conditions such as colds, fever, jaundice, cough, pneumonia, teething problems, measles, mumps, chickenpox, and digestive disorders. These illnesses can affect a child’s growth, health, and well-being, requiring timely care and proper attention.

Pediatric Diseases (Children Diseases)

The following diseases come under pediatric diseases:

Cold

Secretions from the brain keep flowing through the nose or secretions remain near the nose, which have to be cleaned repeatedly.

Causes: Cold climate, mother's use of cold items.

Fever

Sometimes the child gets a fever due to the cold. Water flows from the nose, hands and feet shiver from cold, urine is white, and complaints of weak digestion or diarrhea also occur.

Causes: Cold climate, mother eating cold things, mother having a fever.

Neonatal Jaundice

Sometimes this disease attacks young infants, which damages their liver. Fever, constipation, yellow color of eyes and urine, and clay-colored stool occur. Causes: Mother's use of hot and dry medicines etc., transmission of the disease from parents.

Vomiting Milk

Since children have a nervous temperament, there is an excess of fluids and a lack of heat in their stomach, due to which they repeatedly regurgitate milk without curdling.

Causes: Wet and cold climate, excessive use of cold items, weak digestion, not burping the child after feeding milk.

Poliomyelitis

This disease mostly occurs in children of two or three years of age. First, the child has a fever in which the child appears restless or sick. After 24 to 36 hours, symptoms of paralysis appear, and this paralysis mostly negatively affects the left leg and sometimes the right leg, causing them to wither and become weak. The child cannot walk straight but walks leaning to one side.

Causes: Excessive use of wet and hot items.

Teething

At the age of six or seven months, children begin to teeth. Due to this, drooling starts. Due to pain in the head and temples, he shakes his head repeatedly. Mild fever and thirst occur. The child drinks milk with difficulty. If precautions are not taken in time, the child becomes weak and emaciated.

Causes: Deficiency in diet, weak digestion, diarrhea.

Cough

Sometimes a child suffers from a severe cough. The face becomes dry and a complaint of constipation arises.

Causes: Excessive use of cold and dry things.

Infantile Atrophy (Sukra)

This is a disease of young children, in which children usually get loose motions, due to which the child withers and becomes extremely thin. Sometimes there is no diarrhea, but the body becomes weak. Anemia, dull skin, weak hair with a faded color, and wrinkles appear on the face, and if the earlobe is pressed, there is no pain.

Causes: Indigestion, eating soil, lack of food.

Eating Soil

Some young children develop the habit of eating soil. If soil is not available, they put charcoal or pebbles etc. into their mouths.

Causes: Unbalanced diet, calcium deficiency.

Nocturnal Enuresis

(Bedwetting) Some children urinate in bed while sleeping. Due to weakness in the bladder muscle, it becomes loose, so controlling urination is not within their power. Since children have an excess of fluids, they urinate in bed while sleeping. Boys suffer from this disease more than girls.

Causes: Excessive use of wet and cold items, wet and cold environment.

Dysentery

Some children get green or yellow dysentery and cramps. The food eaten is not digested properly and the body becomes weak.

Causes: Excessive use of hot and dry items.

Abdominal Pain

Due to the accumulation of gas and flatulence in the stomach, the child becomes restless with pain. He screams and cries loudly. He tries to expel it by moving his body, but when he cannot expel it, he cries continuously.

Causes: Not burping after feeding milk, use of cold, dry, and flatulent things.

Typhoid Fever

This fever happens to the child very rapidly and the whole body becomes hot with heat. Its heat is clearly felt.

Causes: Excessive use of hot and dry items, hot climate.

Pneumonia

Some weak children are highly affected by the cold, so they develop complaints like catarrh and cough. They fall victim to this disease due to weak lungs. The cough is dry, phlegm is less, and it occurs repeatedly. Fever occurs and the child becomes very weak.

Causes: Catching a cold, excessive use of flatulent and cold-dry items, cold weather and climate.

Erysipelas

Infants suffer from this disease during summer and the rainy season. In this, red marks appear on the child's body and swelling occurs, increasing the size of the swollen area. When this swelling is pressed with a finger, its redness disappears. When the finger is lifted, the redness remains as before. There is less pain in it but more inflammation and thirst. This complaint occurs more on the cheeks. Sometimes red pimples appear and then pus forms in them.

Causes: Impurity of the mother's blood, walking around in the sun, working near fire, hot climate.

Measles

First, a cold occurs, then fever with shivering happens. The fever is not severe. Sneezing occurs repeatedly and water flows from the nose. Coughing repeatedly in this manner causes hoarseness of voice. On the fourth or fifth day, small rashes like poppy seeds appear. These rashes spread first on the forehead and then all over the body. The duration of this disease is usually fourteen days.

Causes: Excessive use of wet and hot items, attack of the measles virus.

Smallpox

At the beginning of this disease, tears flow. There is redness in the eyes and itching in the nose. Pain occurs in the head and throat, a cough comes, and even the voice becomes hoarse. Then, along with these symptoms, a sudden fever occurs. 48 hours after this, small eruptions appear on the forehead. In this disease, the fever is 101°F to 105°F and eruptions appear all over the body. After three or four days, fluid fills these eruptions and a foul smell comes from the patient. With proper treatment, the patient recovers within two weeks.

Causes: Impurity of blood, infection of variola virus.

Mumps

In this disease, the saliva-producing glands in front of and below the earlobe become swollen. Lumps are clearly visible behind the ears, which swell and cover the neck. If pain is not felt in them, it is the initial stage of the disease, and if pain has started, it is the effect of some poison. There is difficulty in eating food. Foul odor comes from breath. The tongue is coated, headache occurs, and sometimes bleeding from the nose also happens. Fever occurs, which usually lasts for four to six days. The swelling decreases in about ten days. The biggest sign of this swelling is that the tongue does not move because of it. Sometimes the glands under the chin become swollen, making it difficult to swallow anything. In about twenty-five percent of children, the effects of the disease appear on the testicles, and swelling along with pain occurs there. In this condition, due to the sperm becoming dead, the ability of the child to produce offspring is lost. Causes: Rotten environment, poor diet, infection of paramyxovirus.

Chickenpox (Chiken Pox)

At the beginning of the disease, there is a mild fever and feeling of cold. After 24 hours, blister-like eruptions appear on the chest, back, and then gradually on the face and the whole body, causing great restlessness. White fluid forms in these eruptions, which then turns into pus, and finally, they dry up, form scabs, and shed. All the eruptions do not appear at once.

Causes: Deficient diet, seasonal changes, infection of varicella-zoster virus.
