Overview
Vertigo (Rashah / Sadr) In this condition, the patient feels as if all the things in front of him are rotating. He also feels that his mind and body are spinning. Due to this continuous perception, his condition becomes such that he cannot maintain control over his body. He is forced to hold onto something for support, or he sits down, or even falls. Speaking also becomes difficult. A spontaneous state comes over him, as if he has become dizzy and fallen, and he loses control over himself. Standing upright and even sitting properly becomes difficult. His condition is similar to a person who, after spinning while healthy, suddenly stops, but still feels as if his “spirit” is continuing to spin. Similarly, the patient feels as if he is rotating without actually moving. This condition gradually becomes so severe that the person becomes weak and falls, but there are no convulsions (fits). After falling, he usually recovers on his own. “Sadr” refers to a condition in which the patient, while standing, suddenly experiences darkness before the eyes and becomes likely to fall. When the disease becomes severe, the patient may fall like in epilepsy, but there is no foaming from the mouth and no convulsions in the fingers or limbs.
